(Asian independent) On September 1st, 2025, I had the immense joy and honor of visiting the Seattle Buddhist Centre in Seattle, Washington. This visit was not only spiritually enriching but also a meaningful opportunity to connect with fellow practitioners, both old and new. The Seattle Buddhist Centre is a remarkable resource for anyone exploring the path of Buddhism, especially those new to the practice. Located in the heart of Seattle, the Centre offers ongoing introductory classes in meditation and Buddhism in a warm, casual, and inclusive environment. These classes are ideal for beginners, whether you consider yourself a Buddhist or are simply curious about meditation and mindfulness.
One of the highlights of my visit was participating in Sangha Night, a weekly Sunday evening gathering open to all. Held both online and in person, Sangha Night brings people together to meditate, reflect on the Dharma, and share in the joys and challenges of everyday life. Being part of this gathering was a profound experience that reminded me of the strength and beauty of spiritual community.
Sharing the Dhamma in Bellevue, Seattle, USA
Later that day, I had the privilege of delivering a Dhamma talk at Crossroads Park in Bellevue, organized for the Ambedkarite Buddhist community. My talk focused on the topic “What is Sangha?”, with special reference to the practice of taking refuge in the Sangha, a core element of Buddhist life.
This gathering not only allowed us to reflect on the importance of community in spiritual practice but also served as a bridge, connecting the Ambedkarite community with the Seattle Buddhist Centre. It is my hope that this connection will help foster a stronger, more vibrant Sangha in the region, rooted in shared values and mutual support.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to our Dhamma brother Steve for his efforts in organizing everything at the Seattle Buddhist Centre. I am also deeply grateful to Prof. Lalit Khandare for arranging the Dhamma talk in Bellevue and for his continued commitment to the growth of the Ambedkarite Buddhist community.
This visit has been a memorable step on the path, and I look forward to continued collaboration and shared practice in the future.
With metta,
Gauthama Prabhu N
