After welcoming everyone the Mayor said “ Guru Nanak was a spiritual leader, social reformer, revolutionary and a great environmentalist who travelled extensively on foot to spread the message of brotherhood, peace, coexistence and engaged in inter-faith dialogue. The world started talking about global warming and ecological balance during the last 40 years or so but Guru Nanak realised this more than 500 years ago. I am hopeful that 550 trees and saplings will be planted by the end of March next year. I am thankful to the Slough Borough Council, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Wexham Court Parish Council, Slough Labour Group, Chalvey Foundation and all those who have contributed towards this project.”
