Chennai- On 08 June 2026, Bhikkhu Sumedha, Bhikkhu Soratha, and Bhikkhu Kanchi Bodhidhamma visited Pallava Buddha Vihar, Chennai, in the spirit of Kalyāṇamittatā (spiritual friendship) and to strengthen the growing Buddhist movement in South India.

The gathering was presided over by Dhammamitra Gauthama Prabhu, Founder of the South Indian Buddhist Council. The programme was attended by Adv. Sakthipavalan, Adv. Gautham Ganesh, Dhammamitra Selvaraj, Dhammamitra Egambaram, and Upāsaka Murthy, along with members and well-wishers of the Buddhist community.

The visiting Bhikkhus delivered a Dhamma talk on the Five Reflections (Upajjhatthana) based on the Upajjhatthana Sutta, reminding participants to contemplate regularly:

1. I am subject to ageing; I have not gone beyond ageing.
2. I am subject to illness; I have not gone beyond illness.
3. I am subject to death; I have not gone beyond death.
4. I must be separated from all that is dear and beloved to me.
5. I am the owner of my actions (kamma), heir to my actions, born of my actions, related through my actions, and supported by my actions.

The gathering provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue, mutual learning, and a renewed commitment to the Buddha’s path and the social vision inspired by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Participants reflected on the importance of wisdom, ethical conduct, compassion, and collective effort in building a vibrant Buddhist community rooted in both Dhamma and social transformation.

May the bonds of Kalyāṇamittatā continue to grow and contribute to the welfare, harmony, and awakening of all beings.

Namo Buddhaya! Jai Bhim! 🙏☸️💙
