IWA Warns Over Use of UK Base for Military Strikes — “The World Needs Peace, Not More War”
Community organisation urges diplomacy as reports emerge of U.S. bombers operating from British airbase during Iran conflict
Leicester — The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain) has expressed concern over reports that United States military aircraft have recently been operating from a British airbase amid the escalating conflict involving Iran.
According to media reports, American strategic bombers have been deployed to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, a base regularly used by the U.S. Air Force for operations in Europe and the Middle East. The reports have prompted debate over Britain’s role in the current crisis and the use of UK territory for overseas military operations.
Responding to the developments, Sital Singh Gill, General Secretary of the Indian Workers Association (GB), said the organisation believes the international community must prioritise diplomacy and peaceful engagement rather than further military escalation.
“Our concern is not directed against any nation or people,” Gill said. “Our message is simple — the world needs peace, dialogue and respect for human life, not further escalation of war.”
Gill said the organisation was speaking from a humanitarian perspective, noting that wars often bring devastating consequences for civilians and communities caught in conflict.
“History has repeatedly shown that it is ordinary people who suffer the most during wars,” he added. “The wellbeing of humanity must come before the politics of conflict.”
The Indian Workers Association, which has historically supported international peace campaigns and workers’ solidarity movements, said it believes the United Kingdom should play a constructive role in encouraging dialogue and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
The comments come as growing instability in the Middle East has raised global concerns about the risk of wider escalation and its potential humanitarian consequences.
Peace groups and community organisations in Britain have also called for restraint and renewed diplomatic engagement, warning that further military escalation could deepen instability across the region.
