South Africa 187/7 vs India 111 all out — SA won by 76 runs
It was a comprehensive dismantling. South Africa’s total of 187 was built on resilience after a shaky start, and the credit goes to their middle-order batters who cashed in once India’s bowlers lost their way after the Powerplay. The Indian pace attack can be dangerous in the first six overs, but once that phase ended, the batting lineup found gaps freely.
India’s chase was a disaster. Bowled out for 111 chasing 188 is a steep collapse — they were never really in the contest. The 76-run margin tells the story bluntly, this wasn’t a tight game that slipped away, it was a hammering.
A few talking points worth noting:
India’s bowling plan post-Powerplay clearly had no answer for South Africa’s recovery. Giving a shaky side the chance to rebuild and post 187 is exactly the kind of mistake you can’t afford in knockout-stage cricket. The spinners and death bowlers need serious scrutiny.
In the bowling department, only Bumrah stood out with excellent, hostile spell.
With the bat, India simply didn’t apply themselves. Chasing 188 in a T20 is very much gettable, but only if the top order gets you off to a platform. A total of 111 all out suggests a complete batting collapse rather than a fighting effort that fell short.
South Africa, on the other hand, played with the cohesion and discipline that has defined their T20 cricket in recent years — no panic, steady partnerships, and clinical execution with the ball. A strong statement in the Super 8s.
