(Asian independent)March 8 is recognized as International Women’s Day. Individuals extend their best wishes to their female friends, mothers, sisters, and wives on Women’s Day, yet does offering such greetings for a single day truly honor their contributions and significance? You observe, dominate, belittle, and play with their dignity, and then suddenly offer them respect for a single day on Women’s Day; such respect is unwarranted. Women do not seek respect for merely a single day; if it is to be offered, it must be granted consistently, free from the malevolent gaze that prioritizes its own desires upon first glance. Incidents of crime against women are reported globally. If there is genuine concern for the respect of women, it is essential to refrain from viewing them with a negative perspective; only then will true respect be afforded to them.
Also, this occasion transcends the typical teddy bear or rose day. This day holds a level of significance that often goes unrecognized. Gift vouchers, complimentary beverages, and half-price offers at beauty salons are the common associations people have with this occasion. Donning pink and sharing selfies accompanied by hashtags is a common practice for many of us today. Consider this: “Did you permit your maid to take a holiday today?” If the response is negative, then kindly refrain from sharing that ‘support women’ image on Facebook.

The inception of Women’s Day was driven by a singular objective: to advocate for equal rights and equal wages for all, irrespective of gender. Do you observe that occurring in your surroundings even now? I do not. Even women themselves may be uncertain about their desires. Reservation cannot lead to the attainment of true equality. Only those in positions of authority are able to freely articulate their viewpoints. There is a significant amount of discussion, yet a noticeable lack of implementation.

Indeed! Research conducted by the World Economic Forum indicates that it will require over a century to bridge the existing wage and rights disparity. I am quite certain it will require significantly more than that.

Numerous cases of rape, domestic violence, physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, sexual harassment, dowry harassment, and molestation are reported daily, with many more going unrecorded. When a girl wears short clothes, some men mistakenly believe she is inviting unwanted attention. I won’t comment further. People in this society mock her, saying that if she wears short clothes and goes out at night, she’ll face the same fate. What responsibility can we assign to a 3- and 8-month-old girl who succumbs to lust? Where was she revealing her body to someone who committed a terrible crime with her?
Actually, similar to tea, both men and women serve as essential components of existence. Just as sugar enhances the flavour of life, the presence of men contributes significantly to the overall experience of existence.

It is essential to recognize that men and women represent two remarkable manifestations of nature’s creativity. Both XX and XY possess remarkable qualities that make them unique; any attempt to compare them would be futile.

If a woman is a mother, having carried you in her womb for nine months, then a man assumes the role of caretaker for both the mother and the child during that delicate period.

A woman embodies the nurturing presence that weeps alongside you during your darkest moments. A man is the figure who diligently operates in the background to alleviate your sorrow.

If a woman is a sister, she allows her siblings to share everything that belongs to her; a man is a brother who will do anything to ensure his sister’s smile.

Humanity is incomplete without the presence of both genders, and one cannot truly exist without the other. Rather than engaging in futile comparisons, it is essential for both to collaborate in order to enhance the beauty of our world. Both parties ought to receive their entitlements and fulfill their responsibilities with diligence!

We should make a commitment to not abuse our rights and laws that have been specifically intended for our improvement, and we should also be aware that the goal of feminism is equality, but not at the expense of showing contempt to the other gender.
It is important to remember that women were never intended to do tasks that men are capable of doing; rather, women have always been intended to perform tasks that men are unable to perform.
Happy International Women’s Day to all of you!
