Gujarat now sees 13,105 Covid cases, 137 deaths

Gandhinagar, (Asian independent) Breaking all previous records, Gujaraton Thursday saw 13,105 new Covid cases, taking its tally to 4,53,836, while the death toll climbed to 5,877 as 137 more succumbed.

In April, the state has added 1,46,138 cases at an average of 6,643 daily, and there are 92,084 active cases currently.

Ahmedabad registered 5,226 cases, followed by Surat with 2,476, Vadodara with 782, Rajkot with 762 and Jamnagar with 564.

Mehsana saw 444, Gandhinagar 276, Bhavnagar 254, Banaskantha 236, Kutch 214, Junagadh 202, Patan 158, Bharuch 157, Kheda 114, Navsari 107, Tapi 103, Dahod and Panchmahals 97 each, Valsad 95, Surendranagar 84, Amreli 85, Sabarkantha 112, Narmada 110, Amreli 98, Panchmahals and Navsari with 93 each, Valsad 82, Surendranagar 80, Mahisagar 77, Morbi 66, Gir-Somnath 63, Aravalli 55, Narmada 52, Anand 42, Devbhumi Dwarka 39, Porbandar 34 cases, Chotta Udepur 25, Botad 19 and Dangs 14.

Surat recorded 27 deaths, while there were 24 in Ahmedabad, 14 each in Vadodara and Rajkot, nine in Jamnagar, six in Bhavnagar, five each in Banaskantha and Sabarkantha, among others.

With a decline in recoveries compared to the new cases, Gujarat’s rate of recovery fell to 78.41 per cent.

“A total of 91.51 lakh people have been administered the first dose of anti-COVID 19 vaccines while 17.07 lakh have been given the second till date,” as per the Health Department release.
