The book “Annihilation of Caste” translated into Punjabi by L. R. Balley is selling like a hot cake at Singhu Border where the farmers have been agitating against three laws passed by the Modi Government without consultation with farmers.
Many Dalit organisations and individuals put up a book stall at the venue of the agitation. A delegation of lawyers belonging to Dalit communities from Punjab (in the picture) supported the farmers and sold ‘Annihilation of Caste’ and other books written & translated by L. R. Balley.
The fact of the matter is that the caste system is still prevalent in India. Caste Hindu people including the Jat Sikhs practice caste discrimination in India against the Dalits. The plague of the caste system as a cultural baggage is taken by the people belonging to the upper caste strata to many Western & European countries. This book suggests the remedy to get rid of the caste system. In this book, Dr. Ambedkar argued, ” inter-dining & inter-marriage is the only remedy to destroy the caste system.
