Dhaka, (Asian independent) A Bangladesh Minister has warned that any comments against the spirit of the country’s Liberation War and the Constitution will not be tolerated, while “evil attempts” to destroy the peace and comfort of the public will be resisted.

The remarks were made by Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader, who is also General Secretary of the ruling Awami League, on Saturday evening during a press conference at his official residence here.

“Don’t take the government’s liberalism as weakness. Any comments against the spirit of the country’s Liberation War and the constitution will not be tolerated. Any evil attempt to destroy the peace and comfort of general people will be resisted,” he warned.

Quader urged the people who believe in the country’s independence to build a united resistance against all evil efforts.

During the conference, the Minister also said a communal force is creating unwanted debate over the establishment of sculptures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“Imaginary explanations centering Bangabandhu’s sculpture is a challenge to the spirit of Liberation War and the country’s culture.

“A fundamentalist group is giving misinterpreted explanations regarding the sculptures of Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh, to spread hatred among religious people,” he said.

Hence, an iron fist will be used to deal with those who are making ill attempts to create an issue to destroy the country’s religious tolerance, Quader added.
