Record 3,176 Covid cases lift K’taka’s tally to 47,253

Bengaluru, (Asian independent) Karnataka has registered record 3,176 Covid positive cases, raising the state’s tally to 47,253, even as 87 people succumbed to the virus, an official said on Wednesday.

“New cases reported from Tuesday 5 p.m. to Wednesday 5 p.m., are 3,176,” said a health official.

On Wednesday, Covid cases swelled by 1,975 infections in Bengaluru, ground zero for the pandemic in the southern state, raising its total number of cases to 22,944, out of which 17,051 are active.

Among the new cases, excluding Bengaluru, Dharwad accounted for 139 infections, followed by Ballari (136), Mysuru (99), Vijayapura (80), Dakshina Kannada (76) and Kalaburagi (67) among others.

Across the state, 87 people succumbed to the virus, increasing the death toll to 928 in the state.

Like everyday, cough, fever and breathlessness were the common symptoms in the Covid deaths.

Meanwhile, 1,076 patients have been discharged in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of discharges to 18,466.

In contrast, the number of patients in ICU rose up to 597.

Of the total 47,253 cases, active cases stand at 27,853.
