Gujarat’s Covid total rises to 17,632, death toll 1,092

Gandhinagar, (Asian independent) With 415 fresh cases reported on Tuesday, Gujarat’s total number of corona cases climbed to 17,632, while 29 more deaths took the death toll to 1,092.

On the other hand, 1,014 patients were discharged from hospital after being treated for the disease.

Since the last four days, since the announcement of Unlock-1 and more relaxation, over 400 cases are being detected daily. Tuesday was no different, with 5,352 RT-PCR tests unearthing the new 415 cases.

Although the percentage of positive cases from Ahmedabad in the state total has come down, the city remained the top hotspot, with 279 cases reported on Tuesday. It was followed by Surat with 58, Vadodara with 32, Gandhinagar with 15, Mahesana with five, Bhavnagar, Bharuch and Dahod with four each, Kheda three, Panchmahals, Kutch and Surendranagar with two each and Banaskantha, Patan, Valsad, Navsari and Narmada with one positive case each.

of the 29 new fatalities, 24 were from Ahmedabad, two deaths were reported from Aravalli and one each from Surat, Mahesana and Junagadh.

Despite the share of Corona positive cases from Ahmedabad having come down to 72.44 per cent, the death toll rate of the city remained the same – at 81.27 per cent. Till date, out of the total deaths, 888 people have died in Ahmedabad alone, followed by 72 in Surat, 41 in Vadodara, 14 in Gandhinagar, 10 each in Anand and Panchmahals, eight in Bhavnagar, seven in Aravalli and six each in Patan and Mahesana.

The discharges on Tuesday took the total number of cured to 11,894.

Out of the total cases, Ahmedabad continued to lead with 12,773, followed by Surat with 1,717, Vadodara with 1,106, Gandhinagar with 300, Bhavnagar with 279, Mahesana with 125, Mahisagar with 116, Rajkot and Banaskantha with 115 each, Sabarkantha with 106, Aravalli with 105, Anand with 101, Panchmahals with 91, Kutch with 82, Patan with 81, Kheda with 71, Botad with 59 and Jamnagar with 54 positive cases.

Health authorities has so far carried out a total of 2,21,610 tests in the state.

There are 4,646 active cases, out of which the condition of 4,584 is stable, whereas 62 critical patients are still on ventilator.

Right now, there are over 2.3 lakh people quarantined in the state at 2,35,017 where 2,27,666 are home quarantined and 7,375 in institutional facilities.
