Two  Days International Congress on Need of Women’s Leadership for fighting against  COVID-19: Strategy  and Response was  held online  from 28-29 May 2020 New  Delhi, India, organized by International Women’s Club in association with Ghana High Commission, The Republic of Ghana, New Delhi, Kings mead School, England, Aditi Mahavidyalya (Girls College) University of Delhi and VKS Care Foundation.

On this important occasion, His Excellency Michael A.N.N. Oquaye Esq., High Commissioner of Ghana was the Chief Guest. His Excellency in his speech said, “if we teach man we teach an individual but when we teach a woman we teach the whole family” He also encouraged the participants to understand the importance of social distancing, hygienic approach  and  indigenous knowledge to reduce the impacts of COVID-19 crisis.

The keynote address was given by Prof. Sushma Yadav, BPS University, Sonepat. She provided much-updated information on the importance of women’s leadership for reducing the impact of  COVID-19 at local, regional, national, and international levels.

The Convener Dr. Ritu Saxena and Co-Convener Dr. Saroj Rani explained that the time has come for all nations to come forward to one platform to minimize the impact of Coronavirus to save humanity from its harmful effects. Women’s` leadership in the pandemic has a greater role to play. They emphasized that human life is important than business

Prof. Bhumika Gupta, the President of International Women’s Club, France emphasized that the  COVID-19 crisis has changed the philosophy of the scientists, decision-makers, and leaders of  the world to understand the importance of trust, international cooperation and mutual exchange  and sharing of  data between countries to make this world safe and secure for the present and future generations.

The main speakers were:  Dr. Anita Patil, Medical Director, California, USA, Prof. Ane Hill, Mexico, Dr. Kamal Tiwari, MD, Chicago, USA, Dr. Kanika Verma, Canada, Ms. Michele Boulad, Switzerland, Mr. Vijay Malik, Belgium, Sh. Atul  Katiyar, Joint Police Commissioner, Delhi Police, Government of India. Mrs.Meghna Choudhary, Prof. Jaswinder Singh, SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Prof. GK Arora, Principal, Dr. B.R. Ambedker College, University of Delhi,  Prof. Namita Rajput , former  Principal, Sri Aurobindo College , University of Delhi .   Prof. Mamta Sharma, Principal Aditi Mahavidalya  College of DU welcomes the participants and a vote of thanks was given  by Co- Convener Dr. Saroj Rani.  Dr. Anna Muller (Orthopedic & Surgeon) from Germany, Prof. Joan Gilmore from Sydney, Australia, and many more experts attended this event.

The Chief  Guest,  His  Excellency, High Commissioner of Ghana, The republic of Ghana, New Delhi honored some personalities who have done remarkable work in their respective fields.  These are Dr. Payal Mago, Joint Dean, University of Delhi- Women Education, Ms. Gauri  Sheoran, World University Champion in Sports, Ms. Michele Boulad, Geneva, Switzerland-research, Prof. V.S. Negi, Member of Executive Council,University of Delhi in Rural Mountain Sustainable Development, Sh. Mohinder Kumar, former IAS, Vice-Chancellor, IG University in higher education, Ms. Seema Chatrath, India in Leading Entrepreneur and Ms. Parveen Rani in Community Development, Ms, Harleen Kaur in School education, Ms. Cynthia Quarcoo, Barrister, Ghana and   Ms.Dentaa Amoateng MBE President and CEO of the GUBA Enterprise in Entrepreneur.

Around 300 people attended this event online including 200 women participants from different 20 countries. The participants from Ghana, USA, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Germany, Australia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Singapore shared their perspective on the pandemic. They also informed the participants how the leadership in their countries are tackling the pandemic by adopting cutting –edge technologies. Mrs. Babita,  Chairperson of  International Women’s Club closed the event with commitment and hope that such types of events will be organized in future under the umbrella of International Women`s Club, New Delhi, India. She especially thanked Dr. Jagbir Singh for his pro-active role in helping the club for organizing such an important event at short notice.
