Fly Amritsar conveniently via Singapore only in 20 hours from Oct 28.

This winter holiday season continues to bring good news for travelers from Punjab and its diaspora looking to travel direct to Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport Amritsar, Punjab especially for 550 years of Guru Nanak Gurpurab celebrations.

FlyAmritsar Initiative Global Convener Sameep Singh Gumtala informed that with effect from 28 October, one of the World’s best airline Singapore Airlines will be adding its second flight on Auckland-Singapore route and conveniently connect the flight with its low-cost airline partner Scoot airline flight from Singapore to Amritsar.

According to the schedule available on Singapore air website, the journey from Amritsar to Auckland will be completed in 20 hrs. 20 mins duration with a short stay of 4 hrs. 40 mins layover at Singapore. On return from Auckland to Amritsar, travelers stay longer for 8 hrs. 20 mins at Singapore world class Changi Airport. This layover time will also give them an opportunity to see the beautiful Changi airport that provides many options for enjoyment including Currently, layover time at Singapore of about 18 hours. Bookings for these flights can also be made on Singapore Air website.

Gumtala said, Punjabis now have many more choices traveling to South-east Asian countries including Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore than ever before. This connectivity of shorter duration with Auckland in winter holiday season in India and summer in New Zealand is going to benefit thousands of Punjabis living in Auckland and neighboring cities, who earlier had to travel to/from Punjab by road or air to Delhi, making the journey long, tiring and costly for travelling via Delhi.

Winter season in the aviation world starts on October 27 and continues till end of March.  Scoot is increasing frequency of its Singapore to Amritsar flight to five days a week from this date till end of January. These flights to Auckland with short duration is available only till end of winter season in March 2020. We are hopeful that seeing a good response to its Singapore-Auckland flight, Singapore air will continue operation of its Auckland-Singapore flight all year, said Gumtala.

Scoot and its partner Singapore air also enables passengers to book onward flights with convenient connections to many other destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Bangkok, other South East Asian countries and almost all of Singapore air flights from its hub in Singapore.

Yogesh Kamra, Convener (India) for FlyAmritsar Initiative added that this year airlines from Malaysia, Malindo air and Air Asia X operating to Amritsar are also adding more convenient connections for Punjabis to many more international destinations via Kuala Lumpur.

Kamra said, all these foreign carriers now connect Amritsar via their hubs to multiple cities in Australia including Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Gold Coast. A newest addition to this list is now the flight from Auckland by Scoot. Air Asia X, one of the World’s top low-cost carrier flying to more than 140 destinations also connects Amritsar to 40 destinations via Kuala Lumpur.

FlyAmritsar initiative, in an effort for better transportation from Amritsar Airport especially for 550 years Gurpurab celebrations continues to pursue with Punjab government to connect the airport with bus service to all cities in Punjab, similar to the services they are offering for travelers to go from many cities in Punjab to Delhi. Amritsar is now connected with direct flights to 9 international and 9 domestic destinations but It is still the only Int’l airport in India with no bus transportation service.

We are also pursuing with Govt. of India and Punjab Govt. to facilitate start of dry and perishable cargo on these flights. Shorter time to reach various destinations helps in the delivery of perishable good faster. This will directly benefit and encourage farmers to explore international trade options by selling their farm produce, said Kamra.
