Lahore,  Kashmir has turned into Karbala, lamented the chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami of Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, slamming India for dreaming of ‘Akhand Bharat’ (Greater India) during a talk with Hurriyat leaders here on Wednesday.

According to reports in the Pakistani media, Haq said that the believers of ‘Akhand Bharat’ in India hope that the situation is reversed to what it was before 1947.

Karbala is a city in central Iraq, southwest of Baghdad, where a historic battle was fought between the army of the second Umayyad caliph Yazid I and a small army led by Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad in which Ali was martyred.
Ali had to face a lot of difficulties during the battle.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief referred to Karbala while talking about the situation in Kashmir, which according to him is very dangerous.

Talking to Hurriyat leaders here, Haq said, “Kashmir is burning. People are not even taking their kin’s dead bodies even for burial. They are forced to bury the dead bodies inside their homes. Nothing is being done to prevent human rights violations. The very thought of ‘akhand bharat’ has made Kashmir a Karbala.”

Haq made some controversial demands to the Pakistani government – cancel the Shimla Agreement and Lahore Declaration, remove the fencing along the LoC and send a peacekeeping force into Kashmir under the United Nations.
