SP releases six names, Mulayam to contest from Mainpuri

Lucknow,  Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, the party announced on Friday.

In a list released by the party, the names of five other candidates were also announced by Samajwadi Party Principal General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.

Dharmendra Yadav, a cousin of party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, will again contest from Budayun while Akshay Yadav, another member of the Yadav family, has been fielded from Firozabad.

Akshay Yadav is the son of Ram Gopal Yadav and the incumbent MP from Firozabad.

Kamlesh Katheria has been fielded from Etawah, the hometown of the Yadavs, while Bhai Lal Kol is the candidate from Robertsganj. Shabeer Balmiki will contest from Bahraich.

The Samajwadi Party is contesting the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal.

The Samajwadi Party is contesting on 37 seats, RLD on three and the BSP on 38 seats. Amethi and Rae Bareli have been left for the Congress.
