Cairo,  Egypt on Tuesday strongly condemned the terror attack that targeted the headquarters of Libyan Foreign Ministry in the capital earlier the day.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Egypt offered condolences to the Libyan people over the victims of the attack, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

It also stressed the importance of mobilising international efforts to restore Libya’s security and stability and help state institutions to carry out their duties to the Libyan people, reports Xinhua news agency.

The ministry reaffirmed that Egypt will continue to support Libya in the fight against terrorist groups.

At least three people were killed and 10 others, including a paramedic, were injured on Tuesday during the terror attack on the Libyan Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli.

The attack occurred at 9 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), when a car bomb exploded right behind the ministry’s building, an official of Libyan Foreign Ministry told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

After the blast, a group of gunmen entered the building from the front and back entrances and exchanged heavy fire with the security forces, he added.

In September, Islamic State millitants attacked the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in the centre of Tripoli, killing two and injuring several others.
