Bengaluru, (Asian independent) Continuing its downward trend, 22,758 new Covid cases were registered in a day, while 588 succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours across Karnataka, said the state health bulletin on Tuesday.
“With 22,758 people testing positive on Monday, the state’s Covid tally rose to 24,72,973, including 4,24,381 active cases, while 20,22,172 recovered, with 38,224 patients discharged during the day,” said the bulletin.
As epi-centre of the pandemic in the state, Bengaluru reported 6,243 fresh cases, taking its Covid tally to 11,31,496, including 2,19,551 active cases, while recoveries rose to 9,00,081, with 13,210 discharged during the day.
The infection, however, claimed 588 lives, including 350 in Bengaluru, taking the state’s death toll to 26,399 and the city’s toll to 11,813 since the virus broke out in mid-March a year ago.
Among districts which reported over 1,000 new cases on Monday are 2,241 in Mysuru, 1,312 in Tumakur, 1,285 in Hassan and 1,260 in Belagavi, with the rest in the remaining 26 districts across the state.
Out of 1,07,675 tests conducted across the state during the day, 26,266 were through rapid antigen detection and 81,409 through RT-PCR method.
Positivity rate was 21.13 per cent and case fatality rate 2.58 per cent across the state on Monday.
Meanwhile, 64,156 people, including 25,503 above 45 years of age and 33,785 in the 18-44 years age group were vaccinated across the state during the day.
“Cumulatively, 1,23,10,317 beneficiaries, including senior citizens above 60 years of age, healthcare workers and frontline warriors have received the jab since the nationwide vaccination drive was launched across the southern state on January 16,” added the bulletin.
